My great great
grandmother was Mary Amelia Inman b. 1842, in Kirkheaton,
daughter of Joseph Inman, b. 1815, son of Joseph Inman,
b.1788, son of Joshua Inman b. 1757 in Mirfield,
illegitimate son of Elizabeth Inman, b. 1728 daughter of
John Inman of Hopton, nr Mirfield, maltster. At least I
think that's how the lineage goes! I've built a tree on
Ancestry.co.uk and using the parish records for Mirfield and
Kirkheaton, plus the 1841 census, those connections seem to
            make sense.

          I was interested
in your references to Mary Inman, at least the one born in
1813, because I thought she is the eldest sister of my
Joseph b. 1815. There is a marriage of a Mary Inman to
George Woolhouse in 1844, which I think could be her, but
she was not living at home in 1841 along with Elizabeth,
            Joseph, Sarah, James and Jess.
           Also generally, I'm
interested in any information about the Inmans of this area.
Any more facts are helpful, even to use in the process of
elimination. My family seem to have stayed in the family
business in the wider sense, either as maltsters, innkeepers,
beer sellers or barmaids, though some switched between
          joinery, weaving and staymaking.

          My 6x great
grandmother, Elizabeth's two sisters, Mary and Martha, also
had illegitimate children. I can't find what happened to her
third sister, Frances b. 1732, Mirfield. Their only brother
Joshua died aged 7 in 1742, two months before their mother,
            Martha.
