After his marriage Peter Martin of Spratton seems to have moved to Hollowell. His children are all christened at Guilsborough. He held voting rights through his lands in Teeton.

between William Martin of Spratton, taylor and Jonathan Soding of Coome, Warwickshire yeoman and Peter Martin of Hollowell, Guilsborough.
5/- paid to Wm Martin on sale to second parties of cottage, tenements + appurtenances situate in Spratton, late in tenure of Wm Martin, his assigns or undertenants which said cottage Wm Martin lately purchased to him and his heirs for ever from John Allen the elder of Spratton cordwayner and Mary(Allen) his wife and John Allen the younger of Spratton cordwayner. Also several pieces and parcels of arable land and ley meadows and pasture within the parishfields, liberties etc. of Spratton, late in tenure or occupation of     which said Quartern of a yard land said Wm Martin lately purchased to him and his heirs for ever from his brother John Martin., plus houses, outhouses, outbuildings, barns stables yards, orchards etc.

the above transaction is part of the preparation for the provision of a dower for Grace Smith on the occasion of her marriage to William Martin, taylor of Spratton in 1715.

Peter Martin the Elder of Spratton Northants, yeoman, left 1/2 his closes and grounds in Teeton to his wife Bridget for the term of her natural life and thereafter to his grandson John Martin son of his son John Martin, said grandson or his heirs paying out £ 100 to grandson John Martin, son of Peter Martin, within twelve months of death of Bridget. Also he left the other 1/2 of his closes and grounds in Teeton to John Martin, son of son John Martin, immediately, subject to his paying £150 to his son Thomas Martin within 12 months of the testator's death. The mortuage or tenements and appartments where he lived were willed to Bridget and thereafter to his son Peter Martin. The housegoods, linen and stuff were left to Bridget, and all the rest to his son Peter.

Acknowledgements

Most of the material on the Martins comes from Glenis Crocker, with help from Robyn Lawther and Helen Millward. Glenis's material prepared for the Martin reunion she organised has been quoted directly here. They have traced the family back to the 16th century, by a lot of detective work on old wills.
