Research Notes

The marriage of  Thomas Welstead and Mary Matthews is in the right place and the only one in LDS - it is just a bit early. Perhaps there is a patch of missing baptisms. Anyway, drop it to 80% probability.  As this is the second 80% in the chain, probably time to call a halt. However there is a very plausible Thomas Welstead born in 1676  in Whiteparish Wiltshire and christened in Downton (both about seven miles SE of Salisbury). His parents were Thomas Welstead and Mary Whealdon. There is a family of  Welsteads in the LDS in Whiteparish/Downton in the early 1600s  Mary Whealon was born in Whiteparish in 1650, no parents given
