Research Notes

To Follow Up from Maureen Porter in Genes Reunited

I think your William Dingle was possibly born to James Dingle and Elizabeth Mitchell. My William Dingle was born to John Dingle and Jane Hart. James and John were brothers. Their parents were John Dingle and Jane Hawton, of Stoke Climsland, latterly Egloshayle, born 1727 and 1721 respectively.
I got a lot of my information from a Marty Medak who is in Virginia USA who has researched the name on behalf of his wife. I found him on www.genforum.genealogy.com on the Dingle surname forum board. He might be worth trying. I have it down on the list that he gave me that your William (?) died in London but no other information or dates. James and John's mother, Jane Hawton, was the daughter of Edward Hawton and Elizabeth Gerry. I haven't DOBs for them only that Edward died in 1754 and Elizabeth in 1775. There is a plaque for Edward in Stoke Climsland Church (I am in the UK which is useful!) William Dingle was my gg grandfather. Sorry not to have been able to help with family trees but I should be happy to see if I can answer any questions! Marty's list includes all those names on your website - one anomoly: he has Jane (b 1802) as married to George Julian.
Our William Dingle's parents are James and Elizabeth Dingle in the LDS.
Ancestry has nothing, but LDS has a likely birth for James Dingle in St Minver 14 Oct 1770. St Minver, Padstow and  Egloshayle are all within four miles of one another. Except he says he is from Stoke Climsland in the 1851/61 censuses. So rate these parents 30% at best
