Ann and John's Marriage
We get Ann's maiden name from the baptism records for the children in
the LDS
LDS The entry is unconvincing "About 1716
Whaddon, Cambridge". It also gives her Birth as :"1694
Whaddon, Cambridge". ie no day or month
FHO has two entries, obvoiusly referring to the same marriage
(1) John Jacklyn of Fordham and Ann Banyard of Fordham 20 Dec 1714
Parish Chippenham
(2) John Jacklyn of Fordham and Ann Baynard of Fordham 14 Dec 1715
Parish Chippenham (this entry from the Bishop's Transcript)
You would be inclined to believe the parish record rather than the
transcript?
Fordham is about 25 miles NE of Whaddon
Conclusion
There is a long gap between
the marriage in 1714 and the first child we know about in Whaddon 1728.
Ann's Birth
LDS There is an Ann Banyard christened 25 Jan 1686 in Sutton
Cambridgeshire, parents John and Anne. Sutton is 12 miles WNW of Fordham
FHO has the same birth, Parish Swaffham Prior, St Mary , but
spelt Anne
Conclusion
We have four children in Whaddon 1728-39. This is not terribly
consistent with even the 1694 birth. A 1686 birth would have the last
child born
when Ann was 53.
Verdict on Ann's origins : Geography and timing cast substantial
doubts on the material found so far. Verdict
Not proven beyond reasonable doubt
