Children of Robert in the 1750s, probably the father is the Robert
Rowther born in 1729. There are two Robert Rowters marring then (1750,
1752)
Comments Les Rowley
Sadly the regitrar did not record mothers names as a rule, but
occasionally did. The lack of mother's name makes connections less
clear, except for the optimistic inference that if there was ambiguity,
the mother was recorded.
(1) Confidence in the Rebecca (b1725) -- Robert (m 1724) link
(=70%)
(a) She is born 19 years after the marriage
(b) Robert has St Just against his name, and
Rebecca's daughter is going to marry John Greet from St Just
(c) The sad temptation, nothing else fits
(2) Confidence in the Robert (m 1724) -- George (m 1695) link
(=80%)
(a) He would be aged 25 at marriage
(b) Again nothing else fits
(3) Confidence in the George (m 1695) -- James (m 1665) link
(=80%)
(a) He would be aged 27 at marriage
(b) Again nothing else fits
(4) Confidence in the Jane (m 1665) -- George Sawell (m 1633)
link (=100%, well close to it anyway)
(a) She would be aged 24 at marriage
(b) there are two George Sawell families where the
children's births partly overlap. But the recorder was aware of the
problem, and recorded the mother's name for us
(c) Jane called her first daughter Christian after
her mother
Conclusion
Go with Rebecca - Robert - George - James - Jane as above
Mary Webb
There are two candidates for Robert's Wife in the St Gerrans register,
28 Mar 1696 daughter of Richard
23 Aug 1702 daughter of Edward
There is no Edward Webb marrying about the right time on the OPC
database. There is however a list of possible siblings
John 13 Aug
1693
Edward 20 Oct 1695
Steven 26 Feb 1698
Richd 2 Feb 1704
Nicolas 13 Apr 1707
Rebekah 24 Oct 1708
Thomas 5 Jun 1712
Bearing in mind that the registrar seems to resolve ambiguity if it
exists, this is a probable list of siblings. So Edward's daughter is
probable on grounds of age and the encouraging presence of a Rebecca on
the list (80%?).
